The desire for intimacy permeates all of us, regardless of gender.
Us men often try and create intimacy by being chivalrous. We open doors, pay for dinner, buy her flowers, etc. Being chivalrous does a great job at conveying interest, but it does not create intimacy.
Intimacy is when you and another person share your imperfect, human, raw, and real selves with each other. You can be as chivalrous as you want, but if you are closed off, guarded, and never let yourself be vulnerable, then neither of you will experience the pleasure of intimacy.
Whether you are dating, or have been with your partner for years, and are not experiencing the intimacy you crave, ask yourself this question: What am I hiding?
